missy me

Miss joe having a go can you please help!
I have a conventional heating system: boiler a cupboard in the dining room, immersion tank in the airing cupboard and a cold water storage tank in the loft. There's also a small tank next to the cold water storage tank which i think is the expansion tank for the heating i think thats what you call it.
directly under the cold water tank in the loft is my airing cupboard i have recently notice water in there not alot of water, which i think is from the cold water tank.i have been in the loft and underneath the tank is all wet.also i noticed this morning outside there was water on the ground which i think has come from the overflow pipe.i think the bull cock is ok not 100% sure but the water level is where it should be. the over flow pipe is not dripping at the moment can anyone please advise.
thank you
Miss

you need a good light first
second is the tank in the loft plastic or metal
the tank connectors need checking for watertight seal not a big job plumber will prob charge around 50.00 to check and poss fix depending if its quick fix

if overflow dripping at nite probaly ball valve. No one using water at nite so more pressure builds up and could cause valve to drip. once you use water in morning level comes down to normal. do you have jacket round tank, is it wet where overflow pipe is

you need to dry the area and put some newspaper down, see where it drips and find the location of the leak, post on here and ill tell u the easiest way to solve it

hi, no it does not have a jacket round the tank, it's an old system. i'm not to sure if it is wet, all i felt was water underneith the cold water tank itself.

odd, i suspect the overflow has come into play because the ball valve is passing water, if the overflow leaks coz it aint been tested could be the cause???????????????? need more info really

you could manually push the arm of the valve and fill the tank to overflow and check overflow connection to tank if leaks its probaly ball valve and not tank. drop level back down by opening hot tap
