Yesterday thought I was going to have a quiet day  0905 recieve a call got a leak help, I got there water everywhere literaly. Customer had informed me that over week end and screwed the entire floorboards down with 2inch screws!

Now I have been at this house before where DIY hasnt really of been of any saving. But when I got there as the water was slightly black in colour initially thought central heating pipe. Wrong :(

It was a 22mm hot supply, is there a foolproof way of identifying the leak this was a nightmare tongue and groove boards all nailed down screwed down. The leak was right up against the wall by the skirting, so drained down hot water cut pipe put on a slip coupling and soldered.

When I left water still dripping but hardly suprising considering the volume of water. Anyway get home at 6 to find a message on my phone still dripping. So go back and found the slip joint hadnt taken the solder underneath. Presume this was as on a wet joist :(

So drained down again and going back :( There must be away of easy identification, this has got to be the worst leak I have seen.

cap of vent from hot water cylinder and close all other open ends and disconnect the hot pipe coming out of the cylinder put a pressure guage on and test it with a small compressor, test it over 3 bar and if it holds the jobs a good one! :)

Many years ago i used a multi meter to find which screw had gone through a pipe, held one end on the visable pipe and with the other end went along touching the screws until i got a circuit. dont suppose it would work too well if all the boards were wet though. Once had a electric shock off some wet floor boards , after being called to a leak caused by a heating pipe rubbing on a joist next to the house ring main, touched it three or four times before the penny dropped :).
