Hoping someone can suggest a workaround for this problem.
I have a leaking tap which is connected directly to the mains supply (just moved in to a new house) and I want to try and get it sorted as an outside water supply. Trouble is we live 800+ metres from the mains cut off and I'm on a water metre so I don't ant to waste money by doing the obvious shut off and replacing the whole tap. I'm assuming that I'd have to waste a fair amount of water in the pipe between the supply and my tap.
No water leaks when the tap is shut but when I open it water leaks out from the where the white nut connects into the grey fitting.
I'm assuming that it may easily be sorted by some PTFE or a new washer in that tap fitting but I'm thinking if I unscrew it, then the water is going to be coming out at some force. The water pressure in the whole house is very high.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
