Hi there, I've removed all rads in my house due to replaster in every room. I have a combi boiler, can I leave the central heating drained and still run the boiler for hot water for a number of days? Or do i have to repressurise the system and have water in the heating pipes? If so it seems wrong having the heating turned on with no rads but I'm concerned that leaving cold water sitting in pipes with these freezing temperatures could potentially cause a burst pipe. I'd much appreciate any help.

Fill the system back up to 1.3 bar. Before doing this make sure all rad valves are off, no open ends. If you're worried about pipes freezing you could link some of the flow and returns creating a couple of circuits with a piece of plastic pipe (make sure you use inserts) and run your heating a few times a day on low.

If you've got thermostatic valves do not fill the system without capping every one off.

Why not just link flow & return pipes below boiler as a temp connection add a couple of Mt's of pipe and boiler will be ok to use for hot water for a short time.
