Hello problem solvers and intelligent people,

Been wondering how to get around placing a sludge pipe and safety valve pipe in a listed property.

There's only access to the front of the building (a big town house converted into flats) and I'm pretty sure we're not going to get permission to drill out below floor level (property is on the first floor.) Its an electric combination boiler so we have no problems with a flue.

Is there any way we'd be allowed to plumb into internal waste pipes (there's quite old lead and cast 4" running down the middle of the building which is pretty accessible) or is that a big no no?

Grateful for any responses.

S.

Hi! shallgarth,

Its a bit hard to say really. There are different grades of listed buildings and conservation areas.

The thing is there is no such thing as say the front of a building being listed, its everything inside and out.

The one to ask is the conservation officer of the local council.
