I usually fit these

But ended up with one of these and it leaked.
Did I get unlucky?
Its an oring rather than a washer and looks pretty weak.

I don’t like the oring ones normally use the union ones eg face to face with a bit of compound never had one fail (guessing it was a screwfix one ?)

Don’t like the second one eg 15mm as you can’t remove the rad easily if tight / no wiggle room
 
I’ve found on certain things that come from manufacture, aren’t imo how they should be. For example, had intergas boilers come with the drain off not fully closed, that type of thing. Perhaps this was the case of your valve?

Are you on about the 3/4” type that Scott referenced in photo initially? A quick google search throws up a few places, inc BES and City Plumbing. I knew them as wasp valves, but they probably offended wasps, so maybe a name change 😂😂😂

The 3/4 connection type has a washer on the drain off and is fine.
The 1/2 connection type has the naff little oring on the drain off.

I have the bits in the back of my van I will add a picture later
