Hi everybody, I'm new here and trying to unravel the building regs regarding a soil pipe at a barn conversion in Mid-Wales.

I want to install a new WC at the far end of a customers Barn but the
run is about 20 metres and I keep reading stuff that says the maximum
is 6 metres. Is that internally? Also would I need to have a stack pipe
to vent it all?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

yes you would have to have a soil stack wit ha cowel vent on top(you know what i mean), and yes you can have the run, i think its a 1:50 fall i think i cant exactly remember, remember putting drainage in for a granny annex that was being built about a month ago the run was about 19 meters, so who ever says ou cant do it, dont know what there talking about, building control come out and passed it off, and we was going through concrete and soil to get the fall, it can be done, just take your time, leveling and getting the fall correct and it will be fine, anything else just ask mate, good luck.

Judging by most of the plumbing that I've seen in Wales, seems like anything goes. Sometimes wonder if they have building inspectors. Having said that, it seems like the plumbing that I've seen works for years without problems.

Thanks all for the replies,

We're running the pipe above ground.

There are 2 separate problems so I'll make a drawing to illustrate what's going on...

If it's above ground it's 6m max. No ifs or buts. If an inspector passes a 20m above ground run it's because it's his first day or his last day.

You need to run a new drain.
