Could you help young people learn skills for employment in construction?
PART-TIME TUTOR to teach a highly successful Construction course to young people in Surrey, Berkshire and neighbouring boroughs
salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
up to three days a week during term-time (happy to take on 3 different people at 1 d/w).
We are an educational charity running a fleet of 5 mobile classrooms teaching construction and building services engineering skills to young people aged 15-18 in schools across Surrey, Berkshire and South London. Our programme provides them with a qualification and can literally turn young lives around. Due to expansion of our programme we are looking to take additional tutors to our team.
Responsible for teaching small groups of students in 2-3 hour sessions at schools and other educational establishments
Skills taught include: brick laying, painting & decorating, plastering, electrics, carpentry, plumbing
Teaching follows a formal programme to enable the students to gain a qualification that is appropriate for them and you will be assisted at each school by at least one teaching assistant
The nature of the job requires you to be available for work during school term-time, but not during the school holiday period
Full-training in working with young people will be provided – to this end you will be asked to shadow other tutors for the first few weeks of term before a hand-over is completed and undertake appropriate training on teaching skills.
Driving the vehicle between appointments as well as to and from positions where it can be parked securely overnight and when not in use
You will receive a company card to pay for fuel expenditure and similar arrangements are in place regarding purchase of supplies of materials, etc, for the students
You will need:
A passion to pass on your skills to young people and help them succeed in life
Excellent communication skills & rapport with young people
Practical experience and qualification in a variety of construction skills
Full driving license
the role will require a DBS check also
Closing date: 4th September
