Looking for work.

Hi, my name is Fraser, im 27yrs old and I have recenty passed my 6129 and have worked alongside a plumber for the last 2 years whilst doing it, however i was working for free and im now desperately seeking paid work. I dont feel quite ready to start up on my own as of yet and i plan on emigrating in a few years so dont really see the point. So just looking for more experience and as i said, paid work. I live near Dunfermline and have my own transport so commuting is not a problem. Please do not hesitate in getting in touch if your interested in an extra pair of hands.

Hello Fraser, is the guy you have been with for two years not willing to now start paying you anything?

Hi Simon,

No, hes not willing to take me on, more than happy to have me for free labour though! It is a bit tight eh, to be honest the guys a bit of a c*ck anyway....just a miserable depressing man to be around. I only stuck with him as long as i did because he was the only guy to get back to me a couple of years ago when i was sending out a heap of standard letters looking for work experience.

I have done a few simple repair jobs, ball cocks, float valves, electric showers and such like for family and friends but would rather get in some regular paid work (even at min. wage!) and build some more experience/confidence. I am out with a gas engineer every so often to work towards completing my gas portfolio but thats very sporadic and he is primarily a gas engineer and does very little plumbing work so he cant offer the work either and of course this is a potential stumbling block in what im looking for. Basically im looking to fill 3-4 days a week, even willing to work weekends if thats what it takes, and some weeks i can work the full mon-fri if im not out with the gas engineer (like last week for instance). Needless to say its a somewhat frustrating time for me just now, got all the motivation and dedication in the world for this but cant seem to catch a break in regards with my search.

you could try getting out on a few sites as an Improver or Mate. They pays good(ish) and you will get a nice bit of installation experience under your belt . . .

Yeah, ive been keeping my eye on job sites etc for jobs as a Mate near me but theres absolutely nothing just now, but i shall continue to keep my eye on those sites.
