Well after a long while getting ready the final day came today as an employee. And so Tuesday brings a new adventure of self-employment working for myself, am really looking forward to it although I know it will be hard work!

Thanks, 1st fix for an ensuite and stack outside. It's been in the pipeline a while but it was getting a cushion of funds together before hand

You still will be working for someone, - the customer.
And most of them will be fairly good to work for, a few will be lovely people who will make your life worth living and the rest will be trouble.
Remember that a lot of customers only chance of being a boss is when they employ someone briefly - you the tradesman, and they can overdo it a bit.
At least your bosses will vary.

Depends on how much you need to make. If you've got family to feed and a mortgage to pay you will automatically ingratiate yourself a little more and go the extra inch for customers. If your personal overheads are very low you can be choosy, tell people what you will and won't do and let them go elsewhere if they want to. I truly have no boss, customer or otherwise. But if I decide to start a family and get a house at some point then I expect that will change a bit. Currently if I don't get paid for half the week I don't care.

I started up after this bank holiday last year and it has had its ups and downs.

The main problem I had was I moved to a new area so I have had plenty of dry spells but then again my overheads are minimum.

If you have work do it you won't regret it I love it and now I actually enjoy the job again.

Get advertising a lot and you will be ok.

Also when you have a bad job that goes **** up remember the jobs that have gone well and you've earned decent money on.

I'm fortunate that my overheads are low to, plus the mrs has a wage coming in as well. Haven't had to fork out for new tools as I already had all my own gear.

Best thing to do is get yourself a diary write everything down in it each day
Will help In the long run remembering what you've done where

Well that's the 1st week done and I feel like Im not just going through the motions of work and have actually enjoyed work again obliviously its earlier days and it's still going to be hard work but it's a positive start!
