Looking To Start New Career!

Hi Everyone

Im new to this forum and have joined because I was after some help and information firstly.

Im not happy in my current job and strive for a career I can be happy and proud with. For a while I have thought about becoming a fully qualified Plumber. I am 27 now and what like to know at my age what is the best way to go about becoming a fully qualified Plumber?

There are many companies like the OLCI, Construction Skills College amongst others. Do these places give the correct and thorough training I would need or am I better off finding a local company/business that will take me in as an apprentice n do it through a local college? If so am I too old for an apprenticeship as i don't mind paying the money myself if not and are there any websites that list local companies looking for apprentices or is it a local pages job and ringing around?

Would be a real help if someone could help me out.

Would personally keep your money and look for a cheaper avenue to re train training centers build up false hopes .

there are some good plumbers that have come out of these places though.

Have a chat with a local plumber and see how they like the work still, then make up your mind, grass is always greener etc etc

appreciate the feedback guys. Seems there is possibly slightly more negative comments as to a way forward for me but I will keep looking into it further, just don't wanna waste anymore time.

have a look at the work situation in your area is there a shortage of plumbers ? I doubt it , its a very hard time just now in this industry, labour rates being cut almost every day wile other costs rise, dont be missled by adverts claiming that you can earn over 60k a few do but most get by on a lot less, a lot of experienced plumbers giveing it up to do other things, and it will be a few years yet B4 things get better, just waiting for the next batch of Eastern European's to hit the shore line and finnish this trade off altogether, Just step back and have a good think about it.

if you want to do it and have what it takes (lots of money and strong knees ) go for it get your self on the fast track courses and take it from there

i would say aircon and renewablews is the future gas is being phased out

Think it being phased out over the next 200 years, so I'm not to bother'd ! renewable's are OK but its still the cost's involved and haveing room to install it, getting planning permision is another draw back.
