hey all,
apart from a leak, are there any other reasons as to to why there would be pressure loss?

my brother has just had a new boiler fitted, Baxi Platinum 28 HE. The pressure drops around a quarter of a bar every 6-10 days or so. the Engineer who fitted the boiler has said it's due to a part of the piping which has way too many elbows fitted in one area creating "air pockets"?:smartass:

Only a couple of things related to pressure drop. Leak, passing PRV, expansion vessel needinig recharged. Suppose it could have air pockets that get pushed out an aav dropping pressure. I reckon its a leak. PRV and vessel should be ok on new boiler.

Corrosion breaking water down to oxygen and hydrogen and coming out of an auto vent.

Micro leaks that evaporate faster than they leak so you can't see them.

Too many elbows sounds like ********!

When a system if filled though I would expect to have to bleed/top up for up to 3 weeks to get rid of all the air.

Expansion vessel not charged correctly or too small.

I would say it's a leaking gland nut on a rad valve or a very slight weep when hot on a rad nut.
