Hi,

I have had a new bathroom installed and the hot water pressure is low.

We have mains fed cold water into a immersion heater and hot water comes from their. Cold water is fed from the mains. Our bathroom has a electric shower.

It is a immersion heater with a header tank.

What pump would you recommend to increase the hot water to our taps in the bathroom?

It the hot water cylinder is unvented - mains fed, as you describe, then you don't put a shower pump on it!
As the mains pressure is good, then your hot should be similar flow - unless you have a cold water tank gravity system?

Sounds like you've bought high pressure rated taps and your plumber didn't warn you beforehand??

You have a low pressure gravity hot water system so your choice of taps is limited to the low pressure variaty.

- Are the flexi's kinked?
- could be airlocked

Have checked the flexi's they appear to be fine.

How do I know if it is airlocked, our old bathroom taps have pressure it's just the new bathroom on the other side of our house.

Yea the hot water cylinder is mains. Has cold at the top and hot at the bottom

Plumber didn't warn about the taps needing high pressure. Would a pump be able to solve this issue?

NB. All Victoria Plumb taps are compatible with the following systems: Gravity fed, pumped, unvented high pressure or fully modulated combi boilers. On the advert it says they are suitable for all systems so get onto victoria plumb

Thanks for the replys you have been so helpful. I've contacted Victoria Plumb about the taps and will let you know what they say. However how will solving a problem with a pump cause another problem?

Go to your mixer and do this to release air locks:

- place hand firmly over spout
- open HOT TAP then slowly open cold
- (this will push the cold through the hot pipework and push the air out)
- move your hand and close the cold tap asap
- see if the flow increases and notice any air within the water

Not easily done with waterfall taps though, last lot I fitted I was up against a 50 minute bath fill up on 3 bar mains hot and cold. Nasty things, I found myself taking them apart and removing the restrictor to get a better flow rate.
