albie

I have just had a new kitchen fitted which includes a sink with a single hole tap. The cold tap is ok as it is fed from the main but as I live in a flat the water pressure to the gravity fed hot tap is very low and the hot water flow is poor. Is it possible to fit a single rotor in line pump with a flow switch to the hot water system. The hot feed to the bath and the wash basin is fine.

Before you go down the route of a pump was the pressure ok before the new tap?

Have a look at the tap as it could have a non return valve attached to it.
these are removable but Im not saying if its advisable to do it or not as im not a qualified plumber. Ill leave that one for someone else.

Alternatively it could be that the kitchen fitter has fitted a ball'o'fix valve to the plumbing as an isolator. Some of these are cheap and have a very small bore through them thus reducing the pressure further. Also some of the taps have flexible pipes which can also have a small bore. These can be changed for copper tails and a full bore isolator fitted to enhance the pressure. I know this as im a kitchen and bathroom fitter and seen it done many times but not something i do in my work.

If all else fails then yes a pump can be fitted.

Thanks Scottley.
The pressure was fine before the new tap was fitted. The pressure at the bath tap and the basin tap in the bathroom still is fine.
There is a ball'o'fix valve fitted but it is the full bore type.
The flexible pipes are small and I think this is where the problem is.
As access to the tap is very difficult I will probably go for the pump option.
Thanks albie
