Hi, Just had a new combi boiler installed which has meant both hot and cold water within the house is now at high pressure. Unfortunately this means the bathroom taps are now very noisy, particularly when only partially open, so obviously are more suited to low pressure water systems.

Simple question really, rather than fitting new HP taps is it possible to change the quarter-turn cartridges in them for HP ones? They're B&Q's best so don't know what make they are but I suspect are foreign!

if they are quarter turn cartridge taps then they should be ok on mains pressure.

Why are you using the taps partially open? If it is because the flow is excessive than the best bet is to fit flow reducing valves.

Go to B.E.S Ltd, Plumbing and Gas supplies and search for product number 17527. This along with the cartridges below it allows you to set the flow rate for individual outlets without suffering the noise of a partially open tap.

Not every time but I have got flow restrictors fitted to every outlet in the house so I can open them fully without drowning myself or robbing other outlets.
