Hi all

Hope you can help? I have a problem with the water pressure coming from all hot taps uptsairs and down. Once you open the hot tap it runs freely for around a miute then dwindles to nothing more than a trickle.cold taps are fine. My boiler make is a Potterton. There was a weird thing that happened last week when we had some really heavy rain, was that water was coming in through the vent filter on the outside of the house into the unit and then onto our worktops in the kitchen..help if you can

cheers

Hi salty and welcome to UKPlumbersForums.co.uk!

The last sevice was a while ago but did have some work done down around november the fault was that there was a leak from inside the unit a seal or something which was repaired and has been fine since. I did think it had gone again when I noticed the worktops were all wet and did visibly see drips of water coming from the bottom of the unit. but when the rain had stopped so did the dripping from the unit.Rain getting in from the vent or flue as i think its called cant be normal and feel this may have done more damage to the unit ??? Your thoughts welcome

Thanks

Hi Salty, hope you enjoy the forums

Possibly all cold on mains and hot from a tank with ball valve stuck, not filling correctly, thus tank not filling correctly

vent leaking seems to be flue, rain running in,requires correcting

Is it a combi boiler ?

If so will not be tank as non fitted

what model of boiler is it ?

Hi
Thanks i will have a look in the loft and check the tanks.it will be the small tank i presume??

Puddle
thanks for your advice got into the loft this morning and the tank ball cock was trapped. We had the loft insulated last year and the guy when lagging the tanks had put insulation that was covered in its plastic lining resting accross the opening and had fallen into the tank and with the weight of the wet insulation wasn't allowing the ball cock to re fill the tank sufficiently. Thanks you were spot on and duly tip my cap to you.

Thanks
