Hi all,

Right I left college about 4 year ago with C&G level 2 plumbing, Im now 26 and would like to take it further into eventually working on LPG gas, Where do I go from here?
I have been told ACS course but just looked on a training centre web page and found I might have to do a foundation course first before the actual ACS is this true?

firstly you need your core gas, thats the minimum, then you will be wanting to work on appliances, so you need to add the appliances, then you can add your lpg conversion, which allows you to work on the above aplliances, if your wanting to be working in caravans/residential static homes or boats, they are add ons to your lpg ticket.

good luck

Hi,
Im sorry shaun, You have lost me straight away, I faught core gas was the full ACS course?? You can probably tell ive been ****ing about with water and drainage for a bit to long now lol!!

PS. dont 4get the drain off after the stop tap!! lol!!

CCN1 (core part) this is the first exam

then you need to take exam for what ever you wish to work on
HTR1 - fires
CEN1 - boilers
WAT1 - water heaters
CPA1 - combustion performance assessment
CONGLP1 - for lpg

Arr right, Well I would like to undertake the folowing...

Hot water heaters,
Cookers,
Fires,
Boilers (as most caravans are now fully central heated)

So I do all the above in natural then undertake CONGLP1 once this has been passed, will I have to undertake say LPG fire, or is the conversion covering me for all the above?

Thanks Rich..

Just looked back, where does ACS come in to this or is this what you can cherry pick for the ACS course??

I’ve just read through it all again before I set off to work, So basically core gas first through ACS then all the things I would like to do like Gas Fire, Boiler, ECT. Once I have passed these ACS inform Gas Safe I then pay my rip-off fee to get my gas safe card with all the areas I am competent in wrote on the back of my card? ye?

the conversion course will change over all your existing aplliances so you can work on those appliances with lpg.

static homes, caravans and boats, are further assessments

If you only want to work with LPG, you don't have to complete a 'core' in natural gas at all.

You can undertake CCLP1 as a core module then add in the elements and modules for caravans and boats as you need.

If you later decided you want to work with natural gas you can take COLPNG1 to convert all your LPG qualifications to natural gas.
