hi just bought a magnaclean and wondered if i could fit it above the boiler as in the picture

Theoretically it should be OK as the heat of the unit will be largely governed by the temperature of the water inside it. I am going to do exactly this when I fit a new boiler tomorrow but I would think a little more carefully about doing it with an older boiler where the case can get quite warm. If your boiler is a potterton netaheat which is what the diagram looks like then I would want a minimum of 6-8 inches between the bottom of the magnaclean and the top of the boiler.
