I've just had a Magnaclean Micro fitted above my new boiler. The installation instructions say "The bottom inlet is the flow, with the arrow pointing into the canister. The top is the return with the arrow pointing away from the canister. There is no flow restriction." The installer has fitted my Magnaclean so that the top inlet will be the flow and the bottom inlet the return, ie the wrong way round. Will this prevent the Magnaclean from working efficiently? I assume the installer had a good reason for doing it that way.The return pipe to the boiler comes down through the ceiling into the top port of the Magnaclean, then runs from the bottom port of the Magnaclean into the top of the boiler.

That's fine most of the adeys are uni flow

Do you mean bi-directional like a modern TRV for instance? Uniflow means "one flow (direction)" so it would need to be piped accordingly. Or am I confused and Uniflow means "universal flow" i.e. Bi-directional?

Universal flow sorry

It seems that the Micro is the only Adey filter that is not bi-directional. Anyone know why that is the case?

Red label or black ?

Also it doesn't matter which is the return into the filter and return out of the filter

The new black label ones are universal

Old design not very good and flow direction doesn't really matter

Haven't got a camera, but I've posted the Micro installation instructions.
