Hello,

I have a friend who has the above boiler about 4 years old.
Problem with the 60 light, indicating that the pump is not working.

They have had British Gas round, who changed the pump and then the diverter valve.

However they could not get it to work.

The asked me to pop in, as British Gas are now insisting they need a Power Flush, even though they sold and fitted them a Magnaclean a few years back.

When I looked at the boiler, the pump is coming on, and the diverter valve pin moves, but not enough to activate the micro switch.

The sensor pipe that goes into the back of the differential was kinked (connected to the bypass). I changed this pipe and when I first turned the boiler on, it worked but then when back half way again.

Back to square 1.

If I restrict the flow or returm by half closing the iso valve it will work.

Any helpful suggsetions would be appreciated.

Ian

hi and welcome, if you have restricted flow and it works, this suggests to me that system doesnt need a flush.
but could be restricted inside boiler or new divertor/diaphram/ micro switch faulty ??
imo

Turn on the hot tap. What is the flow like? Is the cold supply to boiler ok?

I agree with you, as BG had changed the diverter.

I imagine there must be some rubbish in the main or secondary heat exchanger. Advised her to get back onto BG.

She is also considering a new worcester or Vaillat as come with 5 Year Guarantee, as this boiler has regularly broke down.
