The lemming

Hello

When I came home from work after a night shift yesterday morning my boiler and hot water were not working. The boiler would not fire up and water would not come out of the Hot Water tap. Water would and still comes out of the Cold Water tap. The outside temprature was minus 8 and today the outside temperature is minus 9.

I own a Worcester28i Junior boiler which was commissioned on 25 Feb 2010. I've done a bit of research which states that the external pipe outside the house can freeze up with condensed water draining from the boiler to the drain outside the house.

This morning I did a quick-fix by cutting through the pipe about 6 inches from where it goes through the brickwork and into the boiler. This has allowed the heating to start working. My heating has now been on for half an hour and I have 3bar of pressure showing on the boiler.

My only problem now is that I do not have any water coming out of my Hot Water tap. I have the downstairs kitchen tap fully open and I am getting about one drip every second or so from the tap.

I would very much appreciate any help, advice or guidance on how I can restore my hot water?

My plumbing skills go only as far as changing radiators and fitting new taps. Beyond this I'm willing to give anything a try so long as I have the tools and instructions before me. I'm quite an adventurous little lemming. :)

leave tap open just alittle, this will let any free (hot)water out, as its dripping it may/should slowly melt any ice in pipes,

3bar of pressure showing on the boiler.) tooo much drop this down to 1.5..2max
