I've just had a Marmox Shower Drain Kit fitted, the waste runs off into the soil pipe, but when it's windy it is constantly making popping sounds and it's driving me insane! :6:

We had a shower tray there before with a shallow trap and the same waste pipework running into the soil pipe and it made no noise at all, apart from the odd gurgle when the bath emptied.

What is the recommended fix for this?

it will have a trap, as the waste fitting on a Marmox tray is the trap. I would get the installer back. Very difficult to give advice on this without knowing how the waste is run.

We had a tiler who fitted the "tray" and a plumber came and connected the existing pipe work up to the trap. The waste runs away from the shower and picks up the bath waste before entering the soil pipe and that's it really. Like I say it was ok before with our old shower tray and trap, the only thing that has changed is the waste/trap under the new "tray" but I don't see how that could have been installed wrong. Everything is tiled in as well, all the pipe work, the bath panels the lot. Argh. :bomb2:

That'll be air pressure when winds blowing over the top of the stack..my wc water rocks when its windy.. Possibly the traps a tad shallower than the bath trap this time and fresh air (wind ) is making it do that...Can you get to any waste pipe inside cos you could fit a hepvo waterless trap on the pipe if you can..

I'm hoping I've solved it, I put the plug in the bath and I ran some water through the shower and then removed the bath plug and *touch wood* it hasn't done it again, so hopefully it was just an airlock or.......the wind has dropped sufficiently outside! I shall refer back to the hepvo waterless trap though if I have to - I'm guessing that this can go anywhere along the waste pipe as an addition to what's already there?

there shouldn't be an airlock in a waste pipe..it should only be wet when emptying..

That's a point! Well it seems to have worked, unless it was coincidence that the wind dropped after pouring the water down. We haven't used the shower yet though, we're waiting for the shower door, so maybe there wasn't enough water in the trap?, I know it wasn't dry, there was some water in there, but maybe not enough? I don't know I'm just hoping! Fingers crossed and all that. I'll report back if it starts up again.

Did you ever check if everything (the trap) was put back into the Dalmer waste? I fit these all the time and it sounds like the fitter has removed the screw cap and just placed the grill over the waste but left out the trap
