Morning fellas

My name is Martyn, I'm 32 years of age and live in Lee/Blackheath in South East London.

I worked as a domestic plumber for about a year and a half and unfortunately was made redundant in late 2008. I found it extremely hard to find work due to the bum falling out of the construction industry because of the recession biting and wasn't experienced enough at the time to go as a sole trader.

Due to family commitments and keeping the rent paid and roof over my head I came out of the trade for reasons above but I am looking to study and get a qualification from City and Guilds which has now superseeded all the others such as the 6129, 6068, 6128 etc and would lead me to be able to get train towards a gas foundation and acs.

Apologies for the life story but I thought it may be important so you know what my background is. I would very much appreciate a couple of odd days that someone on here maybe able to spare and I am certainly not looking to get paid as you would be doing me a favour by getting the experience with regards to gas and heating installs etc.

So in summary, I miss the work and would like to get back into the industry but appreciate that I need to walk before I run with regards to central heating installs and boilers etc.

I am looking to get work experiance with an installer who lives within SE London and Kent if possible?

Please reply to this thread or contact me on 07900912172

Many thanks for your time as its much appreciated

Mart :D

sorry chum im in wales, but i went through what you want to do, i did my 6128 and went on to do the acs etc, bpec course, its all tied in with level 3 c+g, but like you said its all changing AGAIN!!!, i think its just a way of getting more money off people. i was lucky and got a placement with a good company for the gas, i did 12 months at 2 days a week for no pay, and still held down a part time job to pay the bills, its tough but its gotta to be done, if you go to a local college, not the private ones unless you got at least 3.5k (AHHHHH) it'll take a year to do the course, i rang companies and got lucky, so give it a go chum, good luck, and keep at it

Thanks a lot Mike that is really encouragaging and I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end... I suppose you gotta break a couple of eggs to make an omlette eh?!
