Hi, my partner has just had a complete bathroom installed. After the installation there is hardly any flow on the hot side of the basin tap which is a Mayfair Zoom PLY10, suitable for 0.2 to 6.0 bar. The system is gravity fed and there is a good flow on the bath tap.(also Mayfair)

The plumber who installed the bathroom confirmed that he had fitted the flexi's supplied by Mayfair and used a full bore iso valve. He suspected that the cartridge was faulty and said that I should contact Mayfair tech support. I spoke to them and they have agreeded to supply another cartridge.

The problem is that Mayfair do not supply instructions on how to change the cartridge. The plumber cannot see how the tap comes apart and the only thing I can see is a brass ring on top of the cartridge with a flat at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions. I wonder if any of you guys may be able to give me some info.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that guys. I did ask Mayfair tech for instructions but they were adamant that they do not supply them. So much for customer service.

Hi should have said, no problems with flow on old tap. Header tank in loft approx 3 mts above the tap, and plumber swopped flexis to check flow. Thanks

those flexis are very narrow bore, plus you'll only have 15mm to the basin. also the opening in a ceramic disc cartridge
is really small. you'll never get a full flow with those consrtictions. the bath will probably be all in 22mm and 3/4 flexis giving that bit extra
flow.

i've had this problem before on a kitchen sink in the end i couldnt do anything to improve things.
if the tap is rated at 0.2 bar as a minimum and your tank is "approx 3m" above the tap then you are
really close to the minimum pressure the tap will function at.
my experience is that modern basin mixer taps dont work well on low pressure systems. i've been to a few houses recently
where the customer has had the same problem as you.

Thanks for the info, looks as if she will have to live with it. Got to be a mixer because its fitted through an expensive granite worktop.
