Had a job booked in today to change a pressure/temp relief valve on a indirect Megaflow cylinder.
When I took the old valve out, I was careful to keep the probe under the baffle plate so I could feed the new one under it too. However something didn't look right about it, so I pulled the valve out completely and felt in the hole with my finger.
What I felt can only be described as waxy, it was white and broke away. I fed my small camera into the hole to take a look inside, but it was hard as the steam kept fogging the lense.
Anyway I'm fairly confident that the baffle has totally degraded, which would explain why the temp/pressure relief valve was weeping.
Has anyone else come across this. I'm going to call the manufacturer tomorrow to see if its covered in the warranty.
If not it's either a new cylinder, or I may drain the cylinder, take out the lower immersion heater and hoover out all the bits and bobs, and then fit an external (white) expansion vessel.
Any thoughts appreciated, sorry to have gone on a bit!
