Hi, got a job booked in to change 2 sets of rad valves on microbore system. The problem is that its a gravity system and the f&e tank is located in a loft 3 storeys above them rads so I forsee real problems trying to fill the system back up.
Whats the best way to approach this?

Should have posted this in CH section :disappointed:

Some will say bung it but I Arnt that confident in bungs personably I have used them and they work but I would freeze it my self Not with the gas kits use the proper twin head electric freezers you can hire them easily

That's about 10 meters of head plenty of push behind that to fill it up.

You out could call in a few days before and draw some cleanser through it or bung it personally I'd bung it but then I'm a gambler

100% agre with rob about running some decent cleanser trough a few days or a week befor makes for a more professional job

freeze it everytime either machine (best) or CO2 bottles if no other way. cost of hire is compensated by not draining down etc.

Cheers for the advice i thought freezing too but had a machine break down on me once. Wouldn't you have to drain down after adding the cleanser?

Gotta drain down after putting cleaner, ? ? ? Freeze it and hire two machines one as back up, oh and be careful of putting cleanser in on
10 mm could block manifolds and pipes IMO

I wouldn't touch that without a freeze machine in a million years mate, you're mega asking for it. If you get a machine make sure you wrap the bits you're going to freeze with wet paper towels then put the clamps on. Really helps.

if you're not gonna get a freezer don't do that job on a Friday....

is the pipework copper or plastic? if its plastic then squeeze off tool every time. no drain no mess.
if house is a relatively new build 3 storey town house i would never drain it, too many round here are piped from ground upto topfloor then down to middle meaning middle never drains and always always get pig of an airlock on refill. if prop has a new smart pump you will be there hours.

Lady had it flushed still rads only getting hot at the top. Cant see how flushing microbore is any good

Really...you cant ?
So the smaller bore the pipe the more irrelevant it becomes ??
