ive got a 3/4 yr old mira go shower in my house. weve just had a full house rewire but my mate (he's a a spark) tested all the wires and he says its defo the shower, i do agree with him, before the rewire the shower tripped the very old fusebox about 2 yrs ago, but we assumed the fuse amp size was too low and it was changed to a higher amped fuse,it then worked fine up until now.

99% of the time it works fine but the odd time it trips the rcd, may i say its never caught me in the shower (hehe) but last thursday morn the mrs was having a shower before her work and it tripped 4 times while she was in there. needless to say she's been nipping my ear ever since to "get it sorted".

my question is what part inside the shower could be causing the rcd to trip? the shower is siliconed well into the tiles so i assume no water is getting into the unit.

also does anyone know mira's call out/labour costs and how much do parts generally cost averagely? ( cheapest to dearest?). baring in mind the shower cost £115 roughly to buy 3/4yrs ago

any help or info would be appreciated

thanx, mbear

Could be the heater element on its way out.Had a similar thing with a Triton the other month.
Not sure on Miras call out, but Tritons was £70 call out plus parts, so could end up being easier and cheaper getting a new shower.

What warranty has it got onit as I know some of the Miras come with a 5year warranty.

im not sure of the warranty to be honest mate, id rather repair the shower whatever the cost(within reason) as the shower is siliconed into the tiles and the shower rail is screwed in etc, so rather than buying the closest match shapewise (its an unusual shape-not square).

how much was the heating element out of interest?

Yeah like you say, at least it is a guaranteed repair, with all parts.

Could be that a few parts are breaking down, thus causing probs.
If I was in your situation, where you dont want the hassle of changing the shower for same shape etc, then I would go for that.

its looking the best option at the min anyway, cheers graham

If it is as old and priced as you say, would just replaced, probably tank element faulty
Also you should not silicon around any mira shower as back space needed for cooling, this is very important on the new bigger output units and invalidates any cover
Which is why recommended position on these units is so important
Some other makes of showers you can, none should be tiled around and siliconed for above reason.
