Just wondering if anyone else has been having issues with Mira Showers. I can't speak to the more expensive ranges as I don't often use them, the ones I am talking about are the cheaper ones like the Jump & the Vie.

The Jump was a cracking idea when it was introduced a few years ago. Water & electric connections opposite side to a standard Mira to retrofit any other make of shower, it was a masterstroke !
Mira have now "re-designed" it so it also accepts connections on the left hand side (as do all other Miras anyway), only I find it doesn't now really fit anything.
If the connections are on the right the wiring connection is so high that the cable is often too short & you need a 3m length of copper & a bag of elbows to extend the pipe across to water connection on the left hand side. Why not leave the brilliant concept as it was before ?

Moving onto the Vie, previously a low cost but good quality shower, it too appears to have been re-designed & is now clearly made of a cheaper plastic & looks very much like a low quality Gainsborough. I fitted one today & the solenoid is letting by so need to replace it with another. Never had a problem with a new Mira before. Very disappointed !!!

I havn't been too impressed with Mira electric showers for years. Their Mira Sports are overpriced & can have lots of faults. The thermal cut out fails on them due to corrosion on it. No big deal as it is a very cheap part though. I am wary of the cheaper Mira models. The Vie I hear gives trouble. The Sprint model is basically a Sport, but I notice they leak inside at a part.
The Jump model, although reasonably cheap, seems to me to be a good shower - uncomplicated basic parts & well made. I fitted a Jump model to replace identical faulty older Jump model a few weeks ago & the only difference I noticed was the wiring no longer had two cable points in place, but just one to save a little which could be moved from left to right or whatever.
The new Redrings are a joke as they have produced a cheap looking new Expressions model.

Like all other companies, Mira will be run by accountants who's job is to increase profits by cutting costs.
Unfortunately this leads to designs that are easier to manufacture and materials that are cheaper to source even if it is pennies but what they fail to realise is it also leads to unhappy customers ie you and i.
I don't know what age you are Bert but from my point of view nearly everything i buy these days is shyte compared to 30 years ago from sanitaryware to appliances to tools.

I know what you mean Tamz. Whenever changes or "improvements" are made it always seems to be of detriment to quality. Maybe is is just our age :/

Something that has improved dramatically over the past 30 years is the quality of cars.
Remember how bad they were then ?

Datsuns with the rse falling out them at 3 year old, nothing left to weld to after 5 years, never leave home without a 10mill spanner, 3 monthly trip to the scrappies for a "new" engine

Your spot on with that , everything is made cheaper and made replaceable rather than fixable, taps dont last long , knuckle taps cartridges are plastic carp, wc ballvalves are all plastic bring back handle , float and 1 diaphragm , flushers - no syphons just open close plastic flushers , last week i snapped the jaw of my bahco 10", years gone by this wouldve never happened even the steel is getting softer the copper thinner,,,, cast boilers would last 30years + change a pump or thermocouple , now a boilers doing well at ten year old, if its broken dont fix, replace,
Even humans are becomming softer and lazier kids play xbox all day n are spoiled rotten , need to learn the value of a days graft and money,
I used to work with old timmers that would carry a cast iron bath on there own, hardy boogers,
Sorry thats my rant over , lol
