well first of all i have to say that i have been in the game now for abour 13 years it was only this year i tried. to do somthing about my qaulifications. i had before also but many where cowboys and i have a good moral standing in eg i dont want to rip people off.

but that is what i feel the olci has doneto me. fair enough as i have been already doing it for a while it would make a lot of scence that i never learned much new i was simply doing it for qaulifications.

which i was told all the way along it was an intermiediate course yet when i recicved my qaulifications they have basic written all over them. it actually says basic as the result.

not just that i was told that this qaulification would be recognised by all industry standards and work proffesionals. It was only as i came near to the end of the course. someone asked a question about snipef the scottish northen irealnd plumbing employment federation. the people plumbers need to contact regarding cscs cards. only to be told by them that my qaulification can not be racognised by them as they do not recognise fast track qaulifications. i paid 4950 pounds for my cousre well i havent paid yet and am seriouslly considering rasising a court civils procedding to get out of paying it.

does anyone elsehave similar stories or advice on the legal procedings i am about to undertake.

Hi Bobski
I did my training with OLCI in Bristol and couldn't fault the centre. The clerical side up in London well that's a different matter.
I'm sure when I signed up to do the 6129 C&G level 2 it was in basic plumbing studies. You may have been told differently though and mis sold a course.
Hope you get to the bottom of it.If you do pursue it be sure to let everyone else on here in a similar position know the outcome.

thanks m8 i will. lol the thing is now im thinking i wanna go and do an acsa course but can you tell me the ins and outs of such a cousre eg how long it takes how much it cvosts all in are there additional courses before i canbe gas safe registerd also do i have to be on placement to do it.

i am self employed. no cowboy though i have morals. thing is i usually stick to just fitting bathrooms and doing other odd work. but i would like the security a gas qaul offers.

Hi Bobski. I’ve done that course with OLCI and the qualifications you get are definitely recognised – it’s City & Guilds and NVQ which is what you need, same as you’d get at a college. I was startring out so did the 6129 level 2 and then the NVQ2 a while back, but now working on getting my Level 3 and ACS so that I can register with gas safe. Doing at the OLCI centre in London, happy with the training Ive had so far so went with them again for this. Think its about 25 days more training and more onsite assessment. To ghet your Acs you do have to get a portfolio of work you’ve done with a gas safe fitter so just getting that now. Anyway, at the end of it fingers crossed I’ll have my 6129 and NVQ level 3 and my Acs. Don’t know what’s happening in Scotland, I would ask OCLI for help.
