This boils down to money over time and depending on which area you work in within the industry will depend on which jobs offer the best profit margin.
As an oil burner engineer one of our most profitable jobs would be motor bearing changes. With the right tools and know how the job could be done in 15 minutes and with a mark up price on the bearings of 300-400% you soon see a good earner. An engineer couldn’t charge 300% of the price of a whole motor though.
