Howdy folks, firstly I'd like to apologise for not being around much lately, 3 young kids and a crazy work load have taken there toll on me

Anyway, was doing a heating system quote and the guy said about moving the gas meter, i told him that the meter was the property of the supplier and i could only touch the pipework away from the meter. He said the last guy that came to give him a quote said it could be moved by 1 meter... i thought this was gash... am i right or wrong?.

TIA :)

The meter/inlet/regulator are the property of the MAM (meter asset manager) which may or may not be the gas supplier. The biggest MAMs are subdivisions of DNOs (Distribution network operators). For Example National Grid Metering. Permission from the MAM should be sought before undertaking work on meters excluding the outlet connection.

Can be done, with approval. Probably be a better job than the original location.

Hi Chappster, are you guys SGN down there? when you say shift meter i take it you mean upstream from ecv?? or you on about shifting everything?
I was always under the impression we couldnt touch anything downstream of ecv as not qualified as not in our courses,

Learning every day. I'm going up to the wall to have a look in to the abyss . Last time I looked over brave heart and co were trying to make fire? Where do they put gas meter in your round houses? Must be difficult fixing meter to mud walls? It's always foggy and damp over the wall so can't see a lot.
In civilisation u normally allowed with permission to move meter. Need second ecv if over a meter tho and it's easier to fit reg to. If not use the below parts

No that's not a tap connector. It's the correct fitting as supplied and reconvened by national grid.

Ecv isn't 3/4 bsp

Thanks guys, the owner was wanting it moved a few ft to put it in a cupboard and convert the space it was in, into a larger toilet area.
I guess I could enquire to SGN about it... if i get the job ;)

Can you get those from bes, and does it come with a washer? Looks just like a tap connector :)
