I need to move an internal water meter, I can easily move it with out disturbing the seals on the meter am I allowed to?

Yes, it is just moving it sideways, it has a remote reading facility and the cable looks long enough to not cause a problem. I was planning to call the water company anyway. I looked on the Internet and could only find the United Utilities web site (not the water company concerned.) with information on moving meters. They say okay but charge a £46.50 inspection fee.
