Hello, my name is Michael, im from East Kilbride and have recently passed my ACS course and gained all the required tickets to work...... However, although i am confident in my knowledge so far although i obviously have experience to gain, i cant seem to get a job and feel the 2 years i spent in college and on placement was a complete waste of time, can someone give me any advice on what or who i could try? Thank in advance

Michael there are countless others that have been on here asking the same question ! Cant get a job no experience , and cant get the experience because you cant get a job, What have you done so far to try and get a job ? If not meny opportunity's where you are have you considered relocating ? Although Unfortunley its the same story all over the UK, People spend loads of time and money Training for something they want to do only to find disappointment waiting for them, I know its sad but that's the way things are, all you can do is keep trying & hope that you get lucky

I have applied for just about everything I've seen, and also applied to company's That arent advertising, its ridiculous, i know id do a good job, if i got stuck i have a few folk i could contact to get me through which is annoying, relocating isn't reply an option as the Mrs wouldn't have it i do have some experience, just seems to be not enough, got a portfolio full of jobs iv done

What kind of work are you looking for ? Do you drive, (big advantage if you do,) Have you contacted any of the Manufactures about possible openings has a service engineer ? It is frustrating and disheartening being in your situation, you have done 2 years training but what actual experience have you had what was your background B4 getting into plumbing, I don't want to repeat what's already been put on this forum you can find that for yourself e.g. working for free etc., not always an option. If your determined you may just strike lucky.

I have had experience while training, i was left to sort boilers of all kinds out myself, yes someone was beside me but i was left to fix the problem or service it or commission it myself, so i count that as experience, i have been a utility labourer, a landscaper, a sparks mate, iv fitted my own bath, family members sinks and stuff, i might have a short apprenticeship with Worcester-bosch, should hear back from them next week, its doing my head in, im fresh out of college, everything is still fresh in my mind and i don't want that to go to waste ye know lol

Very good luck with Worcester be a great opportunity if you can get your feet in the door, you may need to spend some time away from home wile training but stick it out Service engineers is a pretty secure job if you can get in, just do your best & show that your keen to learn, do a little research about them B4 you go, shows your interested

After all your graft , just keep at it .
My bro inlaw came out of the army a few years ago , they retrained him , he just wrote letters , rung everbody up , did everything he could , if he saw a plumbers van he would stop and talk to the plumber .He was just about to give up and got talking to a plumber in Tescos carpark , he took him on lol .

Just dont give up

Really need to talk directly to companies.
I gave a guy a great local contact, who in the past have taken on ex military guys.
He just sent a letter. I originally told him to go and pop in. He’s only a few miles away but got this post below.
Put in the legwork.
