Netamo Thermostat

Hi!

I've just moved into my new house and want to swap the thermostat with a netatmo thermostat cos my friend has one and they look really good and she can set the heating from her phone! I'm a bit confused though because my new house has two thermostats, one main one in the kitchen which is really awkward to get to but is what is used to set the programmes, and one in the hallway that just lets you adjust the temperature (pics below).



Which one does the netatmo replace and what do I do with the other one? Ideally I only want one in the hallway as the kitchen one is hidden behind stuff and I don't want to have to move it all every time I want to change the temperature!

Please help and sorry if I'm being dense lol!

you will need gas safe engineer or an electrician who knows what he is doing, the neatamo replaces both but there are other options the hive or nest, you will need one that controls both heating and hot water which these do

Aw ok thanks, so it's not as simple as me just swapping a few wires over from the old thermostat to a new one?

I've seen the hive and nest but they are both more expensive and the netatmo seemed pretty decent from what I've seen. Although if people think they are a better option I'm happy to listen lol.

neatamo looks quite good but it depends how many wires are in your thermostat

The netatmo thermostat relay would have to be wired in to the wiring centre, an easy way to make it work would be to leave the CH on constant on the programmer and wire the relay between CH ON and the brown of the CH valve if you have an S-plan. If you a Y-plan then it would be wired between the CH ON and the white of the valve. You also need a permanent live and a neutral. If you have a Y-plan depending on the wiring you might not have a permanent live in the wiring centre. The best option would be to replace the 2 channel programmer for a single channel so it only controls the hot water and wire the relay in between permanent live and the valve.
By doing this if you don't have a permanent live in the wiring centre the spare core that used to go CH ON could be terminated in to the permanent live of the programmer giving you what you need in the wiring centre.

If your not confident/competent to do it EDF supply and fit them for £199. They use Help-link for the installation though. Its not bad money IMO as they are about £145 to buy of the shelf.

Thanks, that's probably beyond my capabilities so might not risk it! I'd seen the netamo for the equivilant of around £100 when bought with the Amazon Dot so was tempted but for £200 fitted it might not be that bad a deal!
