Hello , I'm a new poster here . I hope I am posting in the correct section but I'm hoping someone will be able to assist me . I had a new Worcester 35 kw combi bolier fitted and when I went to take a shower the water was tepid (at best!). I have Mira Combiflow BIV/BIR shower and as long as I have had it I believe the temperature override has been disabled as the red button on the temperature lever could not be pressed. This never really bothered me before as we had sufficient temperature on the water from our previous system boiler and hot water cylinder but now that I have a combi the water is cold and I believe/hope the override button would allow me to get some hot water. I don't know i this is something I would be able tackle myself but I want to know what kind of work this would entail before I call someone in (or the installers back). There seems to be plenty of water pressure in the shower just insufficient hot water. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Try reducing the flow control on the shower. It could be that the new combi boiler doesn't supply water at a high enough volume. So reduce the flow then try temp control. If no luck give the installer a call. I a sure a polite question to the installer will get you help should you need it.

Thanks John. I did try reducing the flow but still no luck so I think I will call the installer of the boiler to see if they can help.If not they may at least be able to recommend something.thanx much appreciated

Download the installation instructions there is clear guide to your problem regards k

Is hot water good from other taps?
The shower might not be suitable for a combi

As you say, you already had a fault with the shower, that size combi is more than enough for a shower.

thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure the combi/shower are compatible as it was checked by at least 2 british gas installers. I'm thinking it is the override button on the shower as it may be disabled . and the temp has been hot enough up til now but is just shy of freezing with the combi. well,I hope that is the case and it can be corrected anyway.fingers crossed as i have the installers coming back to check it .

The cold main will be more powerful now if it was tank fed before and now converted to mains pressure, the Mira shower valve can be adjusted internally to compensate for this, see shower installation manual or call plumber, installer. They are meant to check hot water at all outlets as part of the ""Benchmark" that is in a ideal world of course, we are all only human and check it is coming out hot at the nearest tap to us [emoji3]

Thanks ed. That has made me feel better. I'm a bit anxious that they will say it's nothing to do with them .I'll keep you all updated.

In all truth, it is nothing to do with them as you've already admitted that the shower was faulty before they fitted the Combi. If they are coming back, they sound like a decent outfit but don't be surprised if in the end it costs you to repair it.

The shower wasn't faulty before the new boiler. As I said there is an override on the shower (as on most showers ) but this was disabled by the original installer as the water was so hot and it meant that the shower could only reach a max of hot but but not boiling. With the combi boiler this meant that the max level set on shower was not hot enough. British Gas came back took the lever off the shower and enabled the override button so that can now be pressed to reach a higher temp. The water is now very hot . Success.5 minute job but I'm very happy .
