New builds-dropping pipework in a party wall

Anyone know of where to find accurate information for dropping pipework in a party wall? I was always led to believe you can't do it due to regs/noise but looking at other plumbers installs they seem to do what they like.

Don't know about the relevant regs to be honest, but aren't newbuild party walls solid and at least 9" thick?
If so, can't see a problem with chasing them in, or fitting behind dot and dabbed plaster board as long as they will be protected

We've always been told not to but you still get some who do it as its quicker and easier sometimes

Not allways solid, ive seen some with a thin piece of rockwool between the two houses.

Either, its the noise transferrence im referring to. Having to jump through hoops on some properties where they have designed the boiler/bathroom and cloakroom and rads on the party wall. Pipes will be in the timber frame behind plasterboard.

Might be best to ring the local building inspector.

Nothing about pipework to be found although mentions deep sockets.
I'd ask the building inspector if I ever saw one on site. First fix is done and in come the boarders, rare that anything gets inspected these days.
