hi

i am replacing my old boiler (potterton kingfisher) by converting the old open vented gravity system to a sealed system. i am thinking of put in the vaillant ecotec plus 831HE,

i have 7 radiators (i think they are over 20years old) in the house, i like to keep 5 old one and change 2 of rads as i need to reposition them.
can i keep my old radiators and use a new combi?

the pipe work is copper and will be power flushed

many thanks

king

As long as your radiators are well flushed then there should be no problem using the old radiators. Be aware though that the pressure on sealed systems is higher than on vented systems, this shouldn't cause a problem but if any of your old radiators have got any problems (for example sometimes you see old radiators that have rusted from the inside and in time start to leak) then the higher pressure will only make this worse

i would normally advise customer i cannot guarantee integrity of pipework when converting old open vent to sealed especially during flush and indemnify myself as such from a prob caused by old pipework

you shouldnt have a problem but i would advise you fit a filter on such as a magnaclean or TF1
