Hello,

Our toilet flush broken during redecoration recently, and is missing a vital piece of the various bits that make up the push-button mechanism, so we need to replace it, or the whole thing. This photo shows the toilet as it currently is, with the broken flush pieces in shot - we can flush it using the little plastic bit of the flush, but this isn't ideal. What I need to find out is what kind of flush to buy. Has anyone replaced a flush before and can advise me? I have these photos which might help. This one shows the flush part within the cistern that the flush would need to fit into. This one shows the screw-in part of the flush.

We have been down to B&Q but they only had one kind of top flush, but it had a different mechanism, which would have meant we would have to replace the whole thing, when all that is broken is the button. Does anyone know what we need to get here to replace just the part that screws in + the button. We cannot find a manufacturer name/make anywhere on the cistern.

Many thanks in advance.

if i am not mistaken this too looks like a b&q toilet that is supplied with the flush kit?.
whats the writing on the side of the top of the valve in pic?.
best going to b&q and buying the whole kit just to get the button, as i doubt they will come seperate or try a really good old fasioned plumb merchant.
personally i now am favouring drop flap flushes after seeing too many complicated problems with syphon valves.

It looks like a rocca, not that it matters as part still not avalible, you will end up replacing the complete drop valve and push botton ,standard kits are now avalible
I would go on the side of syphons, water is going to become expensive and not to be wasted by leaking drop valves
The syphons with the nut on the stem that allowed them to be removed without removing cistern were spot on

Thanks folks. The only writing I can see at the top of the valve is three logos: one has the numbers 1-10 in a circle, one says 'NF' and the third 'ABS'. Not sure if that is much use in deciding what I need to buy to replace the flush???

There are various branches of Plumb Centre near us (in Edinburgh). I guess if I go into one of them with the pictures they would be able to advise on what kit to buy, and then we could just take from the kit the parts that we need? Or is there a better chain where the staff would be helpful to a non-plumber/non-expert like me?

Thanks again.

these numbers are the date code and re-cycling stuf, so no help there.

i would rather go to the job centre than plumb centre, there useless:eek:.
you need a proper traditional plumbers merchant and take the part with you, they can advise what has superceeded the part and save you a lot of time driving around.
if i can remember right, there is on at the bottom of princess st at the junction where it goes to monkton near the **** shop?.
i think, it has been a long while/few years since i have visited the **** shop tho;. lol:eek:
