Hi all, obviously I am new here and just looking for a bit of advice.
I recently had a new Ideal Logic + Combi 30 boiler fitter which I am very happy with. However, the boiler is in summer mode and with no demand on it, it goes through a burner and purge cycle every 30min. This does not seem right to me, can anyone advise?
Thanks

Have you got any dripping taps? This could cause the issue you have as the hall sensor will pick up water movement.

Also possible you have a small leak your in aware off.

Turn the water off to the boiler check your manual for the correct isolation valve and monitor it for a few hours this will either prove the theory or rule it out

I dont have any dripping taps and I dont think I have a leak but I will turn the water off and see if it has any effect.

The pre-heat mode is switched on, no idea what it does!?

It fires the boiler every so often to keep things 'warm' for quicker hot water delivery. Turn it to off

Scott's right, leave it off. Your only wasting gas.
Boiler has a facility to always have hot water up to temperature with pre heat on. That's why d boiler is cycling every half hour

Since turning the preheat off I havent heard the boiler start once, brilliant!

The preheat seems nothing but a wasteful pain, who cares if it takes a couple of second more to get hot water?

Many thanks guys, especially Scott, your check is in the post:)

You'll be amazed at how many people will whine about it...

Cheque!!

You can either have instant hot water with the boiler running every half hour. Or hot water in 20 seconds with a silent boiler day and night. I have my choice as does everyone else, no one should be moaning!

A better boiler like a Worcester Bosch allows you to time the pre-heat function if you fit there rf programmers... Rather than an on / off switch :)

Queue the worcester haters... :p

Don't hate them. Just have no hair left after pulling it out spending hour after hour working on these heaps!

I wouldnt have thought you could extend the cycle time of the preheat by much before it becomes pointless. If its a clock my hot water use is too varied to put on a timer so it wouldnt be much use to me, perhaps others though.

You wouldnt want to elaborate there would you? I thought Worcester was a very good quality make of boiler, maybe i'm wrong...
