added a new rad to a system a few weeks ago when finished and commisioned all rads air free and nice and hot was chatting to the customer today and he said he has had to bleed a couple of rads upstairs a couple of times and one full of air.

i fitted new rad down stairs in extension any thoughts as to why he has had to bleed a few rads a few times after my work was complete and system bled and working fine

can anyone hazard a guess:)

and you vented every rad? sounds like you could be pulling air in down the vent! whats the pump speed set on?

Well it is not unusual to get some times up to half a rad of air after a few days when work done to a system, possible dead legs ect
Is he still getting air in rads or was it just after works done
could have been a slight exaggeration

just after the work was done could be as you say puddle a bit of air build up after the work dont think he had a problem before

just had customer on phone again he has had to bleed the same 3 rads again its happened about 5 or 6 times he said he bled a lot of air out of them they work for a few days then get air in them again.

just wondering if its worth turning all rads that work off and leave the 3 problemed ones on for 20mins or so cant see that fixing it though.

im off round tomorrow afternoon to have a look any suggestions on how to solve and what it could be.

dont know if he had the problem before i added the new rad but then he will only say he didnt.

First thing to do is to discover if it is air or hydrogen. Next time you bleed it hold a cigarette lighter under the escape. Be careful there are no curtains etc within range.
If it lights then it is hydrogen and your problem is corrosion. If not then you are sucking air.

just wondering if its worth venting off the whole system again and turning up the pump

dont think it will be corrosion water was fairly clean when i drained down.

Maybe but the flame test is quick, simple and above all, cheap.

If it is pulling in air then upping the pump should make it worse.

ok think what the plan when i go back is then bleed every rad again and see what setting the pump is on. If on top setting turn it down same if its on middle. any other suggestions would be greatful

its the same 3 rads with problem 2 upstairs and 1 down

you could always fit an auto air vent into rad, with an f+e it works well, just remember its a solution to a problem, not a fix to the cause. and it will cost you a tenner!

into the rad or do you mean the pipework never come accross a automatic air vent into the rad:confused:

readily available at merchants 3 or 4 different models, all share the 1/2 inch thread so can be easily exchanged on newer rads. read your pm!

i havent installed many systems but dont the flux in the pipework create air hence why you flush out with a cleanser befor your final fill up and put inhibitor in.
or maybe not.
