Discuss new San Souci toilet in the Boilers area at Plumbers Forums

a new Kohler San Souci comfort-height elongated toilet that is dropping water on the bathroom floor.

We went thru series of 3 new toilets (directly from Kohler USA). with the first one, we re-installed a new wax seal, but the water was still droping on the floor, just in front of the flange.

When I un-installed the toilet, and tipped it back to see the underside, we saw three Holes (in addition to the soil exit hole).
One is in the very front of the toilet base and connects to the Bowl Rim.
One is in the bottom of the main trap way, just in front of the large soil exit hole.

I talked with two local licensed plumbers, and both said there should be NO holes in the bottom (other than the large soil exit hole.

A tech adviser at Kohler said there should NOT be any additional holes in the underside. But I haven't been able to get any further response from the Kohler Customer Support team.

Kohler ordered a series of two other Warrantee Replacement toilets for us and had them delivered to our home, one at a time.
One had additional problems and surface defects when we inspected it on arrival. We rejected it.
The last one was ordered from inventory in Texas, and sent to us in Massachusetts.
BUT, it too had the additional Holes in the underside.

We have not installed it yet.

QUESTIONs: My question is, Do ALL San Souci toilets have these additional holes in the underside (or is this a manufacturing defect)?
If they are supposed to be there, What they for?

If they are not supposed to be there, is there any way for us to 'block' the holes, or fill them in?

Have you heard of this before?

Do any other toilets have additional holes (other than the main soil output hole)?

THANK YOU.
Regards, David

Holes in the underside are usually for hanging in the kiln to dry and are blind holes so water can not escape through them. Can you place them up on blocks, fill with a water & coloured food dye mix and check for leaks before fitting

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion for how to verify the holes are not leaking any water.
I'll try that. Thanks again, Best... David
