Hi all, thought i'd drop and see what this is all about
Mostly work on the gas side of things....... started out in '89 with British Gas with no training just as a dogs body helping the fitter to carry the new gas cookers into customers houses and started inevitably absorbing techniques and practices to the point that i started making myself quite useful to the extent that they started training me up to service engineer level.
To cut a long story short i quit BG in 2000 and went sole trader doing pretty much all the stuff i did back then........ boiler servicing and boiler/system breakdowns and boiler changes and general plumbing stuff as it came along
It has to be said that after 12 years of doing this i'm finding the current climate to be the toughest it's ever been and the financial bottom line is at it's lowest ever It's not that there is no work but it just seems harder than ever to turn a decent profit........pretty sad really considering all my years of experience and hard work but there we are. I guess this is a big part of the reason for joining up here, to get a feel for how things are out there for others in the same trade and what if anything people are finding they can do to respond to these trying times :icon4:
