hi guys,im thinking of replacing an vokera 80sp for a valliant 831.will it be a like for like swap or will i have to install 22mm gas pipe to new boiler also does the 831 come with a 24hr timer on it as i have seen them sold seperatly any help apreciated

the 831 has a 15mm gas connection at boiler as for the timer not to sure

Hi,

I would suggest you get some quotes from at least 3 Gas Safe engineers and specify that you want the Vaillant. That way you will know exactly what needs to be modified for the new boiler.

Visit the Vaillant website and download the product info for the model you require and it will tell you what pipe sizes are required.

The Vaillant will require a 22mm gas feed as I fitted one a few weeks back, although the final connection does reduce to 15mm as stated above. The integral timer is an added extra from what I recall.

Hope this helps.

does the 22mm have to back to meter point?

the 831 is a final 15mm conection, for this id suggest 22mm from the meter and just reduce down near the boiler, if its a run of the mill semi house. which it should be if your putting in a 831.

As for the clock the timeswitch 130 is decent enough, around 40 pounds, mechanical 24hr clock that plugs straight into the boiler.

agree with kip if its a dedicated 22mm supply from the meter to the boiler, but is there a feed to a 7kw gas fire? then 5m along a connection to a 12kw gas oven and 6 burner hob ?then 5m to the combi? it doesnt take alot to overload a 22mm gas pipe.
