Evening all went to look at a job on the way home the 2 port valve for the heating (drayton) opens when promted but clicks back loudly 10 secs later do you think it's the valve or motor that needs replacing ? Normally I'd just do the valve but it's in such an awkard place I rather not have to. thanks in advance!!

prob just the motor but clicking noises indicate possible wear on quadrant gear, I'd be replacing the whole valve.

Can't you just replace the head?

Yeah I guess I could but like the first guy said it's the clicking noise that's making me think I need to change the whole valve

Usually when you take the head off all your left with is the spline to connect on to. This in my experience only ever suffers with a leak. And if it's not leaking then I just replace the head, I don't replace the motor only as it can be a fiddle and like the reassurance of all the gears. Micro switch and motor being replaced at the same time

The old drayton valves you cant remove the head (easily) to replace unlike the new ones.

Ok thanks lads it's an 8 year old valve so I'll just change the head cheers
