O

old_skool

I cant decide on what used van to buy, the one i would like is a VW transporter, but they are to expensive, i have around 5k to spend.
I was told that ex bt transits are worth buying at auction, as are VW caddies.
Any ideas would be helpful, pros and cons of certain makes etc.

thanks all.

Transporters are great looking vans but transits are more practicle and cheaper

How about a Vauxhall Vivaro/Renault Traffix/Nissan Primastar. Get the long wheel base version. They drive like a car and good on the juice too.

I have an 09 caddy it uses 1ltr oil @ £18 every 1500 miles and front tyres @ 10,000 , great van but expensive to maintain , had a vivaro before another excellant van cheap as chips to run and buy but slave cylinder fitted inside bell housing for clutch dries out and fails £800 repair,😎

all depends on what work you do if your mostly doing boiler repairs a small van is good if you do alsorts like me a transit size is essentia ive got a long wheel base hi top racked and boxes room for 8x4s or 4m worktop loads of stock neede to keep it full though
if you carry tube get a van that allows you to hide it inside tube rack are being ripped of in london
