Just had a quote for a new boiler in my rented flat (I'm living overseas at the moment). The only reason the boiler needs replaced is that the flue is not in the correct place and I can't get a gas safe certificate. Current boiler (Worcester Junior 28i) is 12-15 years old so probably more cost effective just to get a new boiler. Currently have no room thermostat - only thermostatic valves on the radiators. It's a 2 bedroom flat, one bathroom, shower runs off the boiler, 6 radiators. I've been quoted the following:
We offer to cleanse system. Disconnect and remove existing boiler. Cut back pipe work. Core flue hole. Supply and fit a new viessmann Vitodens 100 35 kw combi, altering pipe work to suit.(note no allowance has been made for the integrity of the existing system)Supply and fit a new flue system along bedroom wall at high level. And to a suitable exit position.
Box in flue system, fitting inspection hatches. Supply and fit a magnetic filter. Supply and fit a condensate waste pump and connect to a suitable waste outlet. Supply and fit a viessmann rf programmable room stat. Fill system commission and test all for the sum of £2478.00 plus vat.
Does this seem reasonable or a little on the steep side? Do I really need a 35kW boiler? Any opinions gratefully received!
Thanks
