hello all, this is my first post and was hoping i can get some help🙂

my nabour wants me to change her kichten taps. she has a combi boiler, do simply turn off the boiler elecrticly, then the cold main and drain taps then fit new taps along with double check valves and service valves? as there isn't any currently.

any giudance appreciated and needed, as im not out off college yet cheers.

best bit of advice is to have a chat with your lecturer and find out the correct parts to use, and how to do the job. Part of being at colleges is a teaching and learnig process and you will gain more benefit from college by using what is available there rather than popping on here for advice, some may not agree but having the college available it seems stupid not to use it unless of course your doing a cookery course

Yea do what you said but no need for double check valves, service valves good idea incase you get a leak. Easy job to change taps though so should be fine

thank you chrisgy, i'v also read that when the water is back on and taps are fitted, i should recharge the water system useing the filling loop, but i thought the loop was only for the central heating, to fill up the circuit if so why does the water system have to be recharged as im only draning the domestic water and not tampering with the heating circuit.

just leave boiler alone and kill water via stopcock

Pull tap off and replace

Checks valves required if tap is not dual flow

Isolation valves are a possibility but not a neccessity as simple enough to isolate anyway
