ashtonjay

im having great difficulty cutting holes in a porcelain tile im currently using on a job
its not the cutting tiles to size as my wet tile cutter does that job fine
its drilling a couple of 15mm holes for tap tails a 100mm for toilet waste and an inch and a half for sink waste
ive broke about 6 tiles today and the customer paid £15 a tile !!! (ill use up the bits i can but nothing seems to go through
could you guys please assist/advise

also is anybody free for 1 day next monday (Hale,Cheshire)to help me finish up on this bathroom? (obviously ill pay a day rate)

cheers

365 drills will be what you want as mike says have a look in the tools section there a few threads about them

[DLMURL="http://*********.com"]How to drill holes in hard tiles with diamond core holesaw drilling bits[/DLMURL] excellent kit will do the job, delivery is quick. You can use the angle grinder with a continuous diamond blade for the 100mm hole. Held at an angle you can get a decent cut if you tape it and take your time. Apologies if you have already tried this.

i think you can get a specially dished diamond disc for cutting circles and curved shapes look here [DLMURL="http://www.tradetiler.com/tile-cutting-and-drilling/diamond-wheels/marcrist-cc750-curve-cutting-wheel.html"]Marcrist CC750 Curve Cutting Diamond Wheel / Blade £44.99 in stock - next day UK delivery[/DLMURL] it's a bit expensive though

Ive previously taken the tiles i needed cutting , marked out allready to a local worktop maker/slate cutters who also does gravestones ect ect!!

cheers fellas
some great tips there
i had a crap day today, really felt like i was getting nowhere regarding the tiling the shower trays in the sink wont be a problem but im not looking forward to the toilet !!

great forum this, quick responses from you guys

Whatever you do, take your time. If your having one of those days and things are going pear shaped you tend to try and cut too quickly, too much pressure etc. Done it myself, do something else and come back to it.

Agree with above about 365 drills. Buy their bathroom kit, it will go through anything.

Bit the bullet lads and bought the 365 drill kit for next day delivery
ive tiled hundreds of bathrooms but believe it or not this is the first one ive done in Porcelain

no wonder my mate charges a load extra for Porcelain i can see why now !!!!!

60 tiles down 20 to go tomorrow (all difficult cuts as bathroom is in loft with slant into eves)
