So I've had a look about the forums and was wondering ...

I have a Halstead Ace High boiler.

I have central heating that's working.
I had a small leak (now repaired).
The pressure still drops on my boiler even though the leak is fixed.
Have replaced the water filler part (that was leaking) and it will only fill to 1 bar.
I get no hot water when I call it.

Based on what I've been reading ...I believe the diverter valve diaphragm may be faulty?

I have had a look and the small piston operates (sorry don't know the names) when the central heating is on. However there is a case with a piston on top and one on the side. The piston on the side doesn't appear to work.

Is it the case then that it is definitely the diverter that is dodgy and should I replace the diaphragm and the springs.

Also I'm not registered but it looks like a DIY job I could do. Is this an issue or should really be getting BG or someone in?

Thanks for any help

Your diagnosis seems right from your description. It's not a difficult job but you need to be pretty sure of what you're doing so as not to spill any water onto the electronics.

Don't - EVER - call BG in! Get a local independent GSR in for any work you need. You'll get a better quality of job, at a far better price, from someone who cares about his customers and reputation!

You could try posting here: [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL] for a local engineer.

Seems pointless advising not to get BG in now you've just told the op how easy a job can be

This should all be deleated and made safe for public viewing

I said it's not too hard if you're sure of what you're doing. No instructions as to how to do it. We can't treat people like idiots, Simon. Most of this sort of info is already out there on the web. By trying to make it all seem like the dark arts we risk pushing people into taking risks because lose their trust.

I might be wrong but if you have done all this work yourself and still have issues its time to get in one who knows what they are doing. Check their gsr card says they can work on boilers and leave them to it.
