No Hot Water or Heating

Hi We recently had a new stainless steel cylinder installed after which we had very hot water even though the thermostat wasn't up too high. This morning however we discovered we had no hot water or heating. Can you tell me if you think this may be due to the new cylinder? I've checked the pilot light and that's coming on fine

You need to get your installer to come back, sounds like a controls problem

Hi What do you mean by a control problem? Would this also affect the heating?

Sounds like it's not been connected correctly to the electrical controls. Or a component may have failed.

Have you had the immersion heater on by mistake? If so it may have tripped the high limit thermostat .

No the immersion heater hasn't been on. We haven't needed it as the water was always so hot

Could still be the high limit stat. Easy to reset if you have the cylinder instructions.

The fact that you mentioned that the water was VERY hot probably means the control thermostat was set too high and this will have caused the high limit to trip.
what make is it?

it's an albion. Is there a reset button that I could press?

Is the high limit stat part of the immersion heater? If so there's instructions on the cylinder as to how to reset it

I didn't say this before, but the immersion heater still works. Not sure if this affects the diagnosis

There will likely be only one. It will cut off the immersion amd the source of heating. Take the s,all cover off ( should unscrew ) then press the reset. If this works make sure the control stat is turned down a bit.
